MAIN TYPE OF SITES TO DEVELOP

Web There are 3 main types of web sites, content sites, user generated content sites and service sites. Blogs are content sites, CNN.com is a content site, but Youtube, Google, Facebook are service sites. Digg, Reddit,Wikipedia,Stumble like sites are user generated content sites.

What do i need to develop those kinds of sites?

For a service site; You need to know coding, you need to have a great idea, you need to know about databases etc.
For a content site; All you need to be is experienced about blogging and your niche.
For User Generated Content Site; You need to be experienced about the industry and those kinds of sites doesn’t work well for new beginners.

Which one should i prefer?

To manage to whole business (technic, content, marketing), blogging would be good for you.  To develop a digg like user generated content, you need to be a bit closer to industry. Think about that ,you have 200 blog posts indexed to google, and think about that a social bookmarkings site receive 500 new posts from its users every day. Do you think is it easy to compete with them? Absolutely not. But marketing a social bookmarking site is not an easy business. (based on my experiences) There is an important point here,  you can become advantageous buy adding incomparable posts that attracts a lot of links. By this way, you can get too many search engine traffic only from a single post.

Whatever you choose, there is a certain point you that you have to know;

If you have a web site, this means that you have something great to share with us…
